Founded in 1852 and incorporated in 1957, Tickfaw is a charming village in Tangipahoa Parish with a rich Italian-American heritage. The name "Tickfaw" derives from Choctaw words meaning "Rest Among the Pines" or "Pine Rest." Our community celebrates its cultural roots through annual traditions including Saint Joseph's Day (March 19) and the Blessed Mother Parade held the first weekend in July. Home to approximately 686 residents (2025), Tickfaw offers a family-friendly atmosphere with a vibrant community spirit. The village is governed by a Mayor, Board of Aldermen, and an elected Chief of Police dedicated to serving our citizens.
